Your privacy is important to us! We have taken steps to limit the information we store about you and wish to be as transparent as possible about the way we deal with your data.
This policy came into effect from 25th May 2018 following the new ‘GDPR’ (General Data Protection Regulation)
Here is what happens when you order a book from our website:
You are taken through the WooCommerce shopping software on our website. Your details (name, address, telephone number, email address) are stored in our website’s database as an ‘order’. We do not store or have access to your payment details if you check out as a ‘guest’.
What happens after your order is complete?
Once we organise delivery of your order, an automated email will be sent to you to say the order has been ‘completed’. Then, we add your full name and email address to our contact lists held with our (email@example.com) email account service providers:
Once we process your order & organise delivery, we will send you an email to:
- acknowledge your order
- confirm we have dispatched your order
Why do we want to add your name and email to our contact list (aka subscribers list)?
To share the love!
We offer sales and promotions during special occasions. And we want to let customers know when a new book is out. Not everybody uses social media to follow us so it’s our way of sharing updates with customers. We don’t send emails out regularly – we promise not to bombard your inbox!
To summarise, where is your data held?
We do not copy your details from the website database and store in any other location (physical or electronic). This means your personal information is only kept in our website database, our PayPal account, and the two email service providers listed above.
Who has access to the data held by the website and email providers?
The website database is accessed by ‘us’ (currently it’s just Rabia Bashir, founder of Precious Bees) via a private laptop, with a double password protection in place. The only outside body who has access to our website database is Paul Shotan, our website maintenance/support provider (Artworks Unlimited).
What if you don’t want your details stored by us?
If you’re one of our social media followers (thank you!) and don’t need email updates just simply unsubscribe next time you get an email. Or email us now (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll do the rest. After your purchase and receipt of your order, if you wish for your details to be erased from our website database, and the two email contact lists, please email us. Please be aware that your details will not be removed from our PayPal account.
What if you want to order from us but don’t want your details stored by these mentioned databases/service providers?
You may order a book by sending us a PayPal payment to email@example.com (please provide as much information as possible in the notes section and ensure you have paid the correct postage). By using this method, you agree to your details being held by PayPal only.
Alternatively, we have a growing list of online and physical stores who sell our books. You are welcome to buy from them directly -in shaa Allah.
